ESJ Editorial Calendar

Enterprise Systems publishes an e-newsletter devoted to IT professionals in shops with mainframes or large, high-transaction servers. Check our home page for this week's stories.

In addition to news, our newsletters include a mix of features, trend stories, Q&As, and case studies, plus vendor-contributed articles. We're eager to hear pitches for stories that focus on technology and IT management (such as improving ROI or a solutions-based case study with a subject company offered exclusively to our publication).

Enterprise Systems newsletters are news driven, so we do not maintain the "traditional" editorial calendar listing feature articles to be published in each issue.  Instead, below you will find a list of some of the general topics we cover. We are happy to accept leads for news and feature articles, and we accept contributed articles that are vendor-neutral.

The fastest way to reach our editors is by e-mail, at least one week in advance of the news release date. (We will honor embargo dates.) Please send us a copy of your press release, announcement, or article idea. We'll review it and get in touch with you if we're interested. If you'd like to follow-up, please e-mail us and be specific when referring to your news (we receive over 500 releases a week).

Please note that due to the volume of inquiries we receive, we first respond to queries about products and services we intend to write about.

Topics of Interest

We cover a variety of topics in three main categories: the enterprise, security, and storage. In addition to articles about specific products or services, we focus on:

  • trends (both current and future) that IT professionals should understand and anticipate
  • best practices that IT pros can follow to get the most from their limited resources

For example, for the article on storage standards, we want to cover the current standards, where standards are headed, what IT professionals should know about these standards (how they will impact an IT worker's job), plus the best way to handle standards (for example, the best practices for implementing, updating, or enforcing standards).

Among the topics included in previous issues:

The Enterprise

  • The Greening of IT
  • Business Process Management
  • Virtualization
  • Network Management
  • Outsourcing and Project Management
  • Legacy Applications and Modernization
  • Business Continuity
  • Workload Management/Balance
  • Application Performance
  • Web Services/SOA
  • Software-as-a-Service

Security

  • Protecting Mobile Devices
  • Database Security
  • Compliance and Security

  • Compression and Optimization
  • Green Storage
  • Mergers and Acquisitions: Their Storage Impact

Note: The print edition of Enterprise Systems Journal ceased publication in November, 2002. Carrying on the tradition of ESJ are our weekly e-mail newsletters which are read by IT professionals, especially those in shops with mainframes and/or high-to-mid-range servers.
