IBM Named Top Messaging Middleware Vendor

Cementing its position atop the middleware market, IBM recently announced that high-technology analyst group, Aberdeen Group (Boston), has named it the world’s top messaging middleware vendor.

Leading the way for IBM is MQSeries, its messaging middleware brand that ensures messages between disparate computer systems are delivered only once, even when parts of the network are unavailable.

MQSeries and MQSeries Integrator are jointly developed and marketed by IBM and business partner New Era of Networks (NEON). Both products help companies achieve enterprise application integration (EAI), a major requirement for companies that want to engage in mergers and acquisitions, e-commerce, and business-to-business partnerships.

According to an Aberdeen report entitled “Enterprise Application Integration: Evolving to meet e-business demands,” the market for EAI software is expected to reach $1.4 billion this year.

“The IBM business integration strategy delivers the next step in the natural evolution of EAI,” says Tom Dwyer, managing director, Aberdeen Group. “IBM is fundamentally linking business processes with the underlying IT processes.”
