Vanguard Solutions Adds Momentum to GPS Reports
Citing the need to offer AS/400 users of its Graphical Performance Series (GPS) with “cross application reporting output,” Vanguard Solutions (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) has begun offering Momentum Utilities’ (Chicago) Jacana-Valet-OPEN/DB as its AS/400 report writer of choice.
Vanguard’s GPS is a prepackaged BI/DW solution for leading AS/400 ERP systems such as J.D. Edwards, MAPICS, BPCS and Prism, that includes data extracts, a data warehouse engine, OLAP, graphing and reporting capabilities. Jacana-Valet-OPEN/DB is an AS/400-centric client/server reporting system that lets users augment their standard reporting with additional custom reporting and data extracts. Jacana’s Information Interface enables the file relationships of an application to be described to the report writer so that the user can work with easily recognized fields and is not required to know the field and file relationships of the underlying database.
“While GPS offers sophisticated reporting facilities embedded within GPS, this is focused on the data that resides within GPS. Customers also need to produce reports that combine the refined data that resides in the GPS data warehouse with data from other applications running on their AS/400,” says Tony Balio, president of Vanguard Solutions. “Jacana provides such a solution. The fact that Momentum’s product can retrieve data from both our GPS application and any other AS/400 customer application will be a major benefit to our customers.”

As part of the value add of this marketing relationship Vanguard and Momentum have developed an Information Interface for the GPS data warehouse which Vanguard will offer at no charge.
