A new OEM agreement between i-data Printing Systems (Copenhagen, Denmark) and Konica Business Technologies Inc. (Windsor, Conn.) will lead to the development of a complete series of networking interfaces for Konica print controllers.

Konica provides hardware and software for digital document creation, distribution and production tools. i-data Printing Systems, a division of i-data International A.S., is a worldwide provider of workflow and output management technology.

Under the partnership, announced last week, the companies will develop joint interfaces to provide compatibility and connectivity to various networks including Ethernet 10/100, as well as direct AS/400 attachment. They will offer a complete upgrade path from standard LAN connectivity through IBM/SCS to full AFP/IPDS support. The LAN interfaces will also be prepared for SafeCom, the unique secure print and distribution system developed by i-data.

“We are extremely pleased with this new agreement with i-data Printing Systems and look forward to continuing our successful relationship,” says Kevin Kern, VP of digital systems solutions and news product development at Konica. “Our industry-leading printing and copying technology, partnered with i-data’s industry-leading network interface technology, will help us to continue to provide the most complete line of digital connected products to the market.”
