SEAGULL Unveils New Application Integration Solution

SEAGULL announced Transidiom, new software technology for integrating e-business applications with mainframe and IBM eServer iSeries 400 (formerly AS/400) applications. The most important features of Transidiom are the speed with which results can be delivered, and the product’s support for three of the industry’s most prevalent interoperability standards – XML, Java and COM.

Transidiom can be used to integrate front-office applications like customer relationship management, supply chain, storefront or an employee intranet with core business processes running on back office systems like order processing, inventory and claims processing. Using Transidiom, developers package host business logic into business functions that have industry-standard XML, Java and COM interfaces. This transforms legacy applications into a collection of shared services that are easily used by other applications inside and outside the organization. Transidiom requires no coding or programming, and no modifications to the host application. The development process is complete in minutes.

Transidiom has two primary components. The Transidiom Developer, which includes: a Connector Builder tool used by host application experts to access, identify and record host application navigation comprising specific business processes and an Interface Definition tool used by e-business application developers to define the programming interface and publish XML schema, JavaBeans or COM objects. The Transidiom Server includes an application integration server which processes incoming XML, Java or COM requests for host application services, invokes and operates the host application, and returns the output in XML, COM or Java. Transidiom Server also includes gateways that connect to the host applications.

The entire development process is "point-and-click." It results in business functions which have industry-standard programming interfaces used by Java, COM or XML developers for integration with other applications inside or outside the firewall, including packaged applications; EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) products from vendors like WebMethods and TIBCO; and Web application environments such as IBM’s WebSphere and Microsoft’s .NET Biztalk Server.
