ASP-One Initiates Expansion Frenzy with IBM's Shark

Application Service Provider ASP-One has deployed an IBM Storage Area Network using the Enterprise Storage Server, code-named Shark, to bolster its business offering in the highly competitive and consolidating ASP marketplace.

ASP-One hosts software applications, professional content and Web sites for businesses. With plans to grow its customer base in 2001, ASP-One is using Shark to develop an IT blueprint for expansion. The company maintains data centers in Chicago and Paris.

The installation combines 25 rack-mounted IBM Netfinity servers and a Shark using 18 gigabyte drives. For backup, the network uses an IBM 14-slot DLT-changer with a DLT 7000 tape drive.
