HP Licenses Adobe PDF
HP has licensed the Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) libraries as a preferred file format for use in its products and services.
Printing and imaging devices, such as HP Photosmart cameras, scanners and all-in-one devices, will be among the first HP products to incorporate the Adobe PDF technology. HP devices incorporating the Adobe PDF technology are expected to be available in spring 2002.
HP also announced that it has joined Adobe as a partner member of CIP4, an international body promoting the computer-based integration of all processes of the graphic arts industry. The current high-profile work of CIP4 is the evolution of the Job Definition Format (JDF) specification, which allows users to track a job from start to finish across practically any system already in place.
