Citrix Appoints New CTO

Citrix Systems has appointed Bob Kruger as its new vice president and chief technology officer. Kruger, 47, brings 25 years of knowledge in high technology to Citrix, including three years at BMC Software and over 10 years at Microsoft.

“Bob brings a wealth of experience in distributed computing environments, the Web and Windows world,” says Mark Templeton, president of Citrix. “His combination of technical and business experience will enable him to drive the company’s technical vision and strategic direction.”

At BMC Software, Kruger served most recently as vice president and general manager for e-business solutions where he defined, built, marketed and supported service-level management solutions on distributed systems. This included overseeing the development of applications and infrastructure technology central to BMC's products, key industry partnerships, standards initiatives and customer relationships.

Prior to BMC, Kruger worked at Microsoft, his last position being the general manager for systems management products in the Server Applications division. In that role, he was responsible for the development, marketing, licensing and support of Microsoft products designed for the management of Windows systems. He was instrumental in establishing the computing industry's Web-based enterprise management initiative, as well as overseeing creation of the underlying technology.
