ACOM Check Printing Solution Promises Speed

Printing solutions developer ACOM Solutions Inc. has intorduced a new high-speed networked secure check printer. The Xerox DocuPrint N4525 MICR-Enhanced Network Laser Printer Solution from ACOM is a 45-page-per-minute performer that takes as little as four seconds to generate its first page.

In addition, the printer features 1200 dpi resolution, enables up to six input sources and allows users to choose from an array of paper types, weights and sizes, ranging from postcard to ledger. It also offers productivity options, such as collating, stapling and hole punching, producing documents that are ready for distribution upon retrieval from the tray.

"While many companies are implementing electronic payment processes for certain activities, the overwhelming majority continue to handle all or most of their payables and payroll activities with preprinted check stock and a line printer," Cropley said in a statement.

"ACOM secure payment solutions permit users to achieve the highest levels of protection against check fraud available by replacing traditional preprinted MICR check forms with electronic check templates stored in the computer and through both internal and external security measures and Positive Pay. When checks are needed, payment data is merged with the templates and the completed checks are generated in a single pass through the MICR laser printer. “

Standard features of the DocuPrint 4525 include a fifth-generation Fuji-Xerox engine; 10/100 BaseTX Ethernet, USB and bidirectional parallel connectivity; true Adobe PostScript 3 and PCL5e and PCL6 emulations; and a duty cycle of up to 250,000 pages per month. Various memory configurations and input/output paper handling options are available, and connectivity options include Token Ring, serial and 10Base2 Ethernet.

ACOM enhancements to the printer include a three-position keylock (MICR ON, MICR OFF and PRINTER OFF); an E13B MICR font and MICR toner customized for use with the DocuPrint N4525; and a PCMCIA card reader for ACOM's removable Secure-A-Font card.
