SoftLanding & MERANT Agree - Coordinate Change Management!

SoftLanding Systems and MERANT have signed an agreement allowing SoftLanding to offer MERANT’s PVCS suite of change management products. The PVCS product suite allows users to deliver, update and manage their e-business applications on NT, UNIX or mainframe servers.

"We recognize the need to support mixed platform environments without diluting the ability to manage iSeries development," comments Paul Schlieben, President of SoftLanding Systems. "Some iSeries vendors have tried to force iSeries 400 methodology onto the NT and Unix worlds, and some NT and UNIX vendors are trying just the opposite. We chose to respect the differences and offer tools that will accommodate whatever development methodology is being used."

SoftLanding’s client/server and e-business change management product, TurnOver eCM, was designed for developers with some familiarity with iSeries 400 development practices and for IT departments that want to use an iSeries server as the central repository for all objects. TurnOver eCM easily manages non-traditional iSeries 400 objects such as Java, Visual Basic, HTML and XML, along with traditional objects, such as RPG and ILE.

It also leverages other TurnOver features such as change history, promotions, recovery and deployment to iSeries or NT servers. However, PC or UNIX developers with no iSeries 400 experience will find the PCVS products more appropriate for their development methodologies.
