Original Brings Web to AS/400 Benchmark, Signs Deal With MKS

The Original Software Group, a UK-based provider of developer solutions for the AS/400, has enhanced its TestBench400 testing solution for IBM's iSeries 400 platform with a new module called TestWEB.

The new tool is designed to enable testing of entire iSeries 400-based e- business applications, from the web-based elements right through back office system processes. When integrated with TestBench400, TestWEB allows a web transaction to be followed from its arrival on the server until the transaction has been completed.

In addition, load testing can be performed from a single PC.

Availability and pricing were not disclosed.

In related news, Original has reached an agreement with Mortice Kern Systems in which users of MKS’ ExtractDB, File Compare, and Test Monitor customers will receive Original’s Extractor400 and TestBench400 at no additional charge.

As part of the agreement, Original Software will take immediate responsibility for supporting the MKS products through both its UK and new Chicago office as part of this upgrade program. To assist in this process, two members of MKS' technical staff have transferred to Original Software. The new team will ensure that MKS customers receive the integrated technology and services to properly adapt their AS/400 business operations for the new technology.

According to Ed Bartos, MKS’ VP of business development, Original Software’s testing and extraction tools will give MKS’ customers a suite that will enable them to fast track application deployment without compromising quality.
