Sun Announces New Pricing Structure for Solaris
Sun has implemented a new pricing structure for two of its Solaris resource management software products. According to Sun, the new structure will benefit system administrators by simplifying management, increasing service levels and reducing costs.
The price reductions lower the cost of the Solaris Resource Manager software by as much as 30 percent and the Solaris Bandwidth Manager software by as much as 90 percent.
The new price ranges are now available. Solaris Bandwidth Manager software pricing ranges from $100 to $10,000 depending on system size and the Solaris Resource Manager software pricing ranges from $2,500 to $25,000, also depending on system size. The two products, now being sold separately, are both supported by the Solaris 8 Operating Environment (OE), as well as the Solaris 7 OE and Solaris 2.6 OE.
