Blockade Appoints New CEO

Blockade Systems, a developer of enterprise security software, has appointed Joe Moosa as its new CEO. Moosa's appointment comes as a culmination of a tremendous year of growth for the company that has seen its revenues almost double.

Moosa replaces Richard Liliani, Blockade's founder, chairman and CEO since 1988. "[His] background was a perfect fit for what Blockade was looking for," said Liliani in a statement. "Joe has over 16 years experience in the communications and IT industries, and has successfully taken niche player technology companies from initial stages and grown them to market leaders."

Liliani, who continues as chairman, will now also assume the position of CTO in the organization. "I am very pleased to hand over the Blockade reins to Joe Moosa. Joe has the perfect blend of IT experience and business leadership to take Blockade to the next step. The technology area has always been my first love, and as CTO I know that Joe and I can drive tremendous growth for the company and its clients."

In 1993, Moosa founded Opcom Solutions, one of the early innovators of implementing "proactive service-level management systems" for large IT shops and network operations centers of major telecommunication carriers. Opcom established its presence in major North American centers, providing solutions to a global customer base. In 1997, he served as president and CEO of Opcom when it was sold to GE Capital. He assisted GE Capital in integrating Opcom within its organization as the core of GE Capital Managed Services, a new global subsidiary.

He also co-founded Eftia OSS Solutions, a company that provides provisioning software for next-generation network and service providers in the global communications marketplace. As EVP of corporate development and strategy, he was responsible for the rapid growth of the company on multiple fronts. He drove the growth in its revenues, customer base, strategic partners, organizational structure and alignment, and played a pivotal role in moving its evolution to a package-software architecture.

"I am excited to have the opportunity to lead Blockade in its future growth," said Moosa in a statement. "Over the next few years, Blockade clients will see new products and technology innovations that will greatly benefit their organizations and provide them with enterprise security products and services that are second to none in the IT security marketplace."
