Jacada Ltd. has launched a German subsidiary as the midrange powerhouse is looking to expand its European presence to capitalize on growing demand for Internet-enabled applications in the market.

"Jacada's expansion into Germany is the next logical step in expanding ourdirect sales operation in Europe," said Mike Potts, Jacada's president ofworldwide operations, in a statement. "[The German] office will enable Jacada to reach a large segment of the European market that recognizes the importance of leveraging existing investments by transitioning their legacy systems into e-business solutions."

Christian Singer, formerly a business unit manager and director of sales and marketing for the Central European operations of ERP software developer Geac, will head Jacada’s German subsidiary.

"Christian has vast experience in the German software market, andwe are quite excited that he will spearhead Jacada's expansion into Germany,"said Potts.

In evaluating its move into Germany, Jacada examined a number of factors, including the amount of mainframe and midrange computers installed, connectivity rates, and how many of the Global 2000 are German-based.

With the addition of its German subsidiary, Jacada now has offices in North America, the United Kingdom and Germany, and its distribution network touches on Latin America and the remainder of Europe.
