Hollywood Software Aids Foreign Film Distribution

Overseas Film Group, has opted to outsource its domestic theatrical film distribution system using Hollywood Software's TDS2000 ASP Service. First Look/Overseas Film Group was one of the first film distributors to license Hollywood Software's revolutionary distribution system TDS2000, and is now the first distributor to transition from licensor to outsourced ASP customer.

The change from in-house to outsourced system operation in Hollywood is a trend that is expected to grow as distributors search for lower costs and increased operating efficiencies by shedding the burden of maintaining increasingly complex software systems. Hollywood Software is the leading provider of business process applications for the entertainment industry used to manage, distribute and administer creative content. Its TDS2000 film distribution system is the industry standard for domestic distribution, having administered over 50 percent of the domestic box office since 1999.

Overseas Film Group will now have secured online access to the TDS2000 system running on Hollywood Software's own servers, which they will use to book theaters, manage film prints, shipping, billing, settlements, cash receipts, comparative box office performance data, customer statements and financial reporting. By outsourcing the technical aspects of film distribution, Overseas Film Group can minimize MIS costs, while ensuring around-the-clock system maintenance, regular software enhancements, performance tuning and disaster recovery. Also, as an ASP customer, Overseas Film Group will no longer have to devote any time to managing its theater master database which must be constantly updated to remain in sync with the ever-changing exhibition landscape.

"Overseas Film Group was focused on controlling infrastructure costs while expanding their theatrical distribution capabilities," says David Gajda, CEO of Hollywood Software. "Using our TDS2000 ASP Service instead of trying to manage the system themselves will allow them to concentrate their resources and efforts on their company's core business, film distribution, while Hollywood Software supports their information technology requirements. As we continue to expand the scope of TDS2000 to encompass international distribution and develop integrated solutions for exhibition in anticipation of digital delivery, we fully expect that this ASP Service option will be increasingly attractive to distributors of all sizes, including the major studios."
