Oracle and Sun Open a Window to Java

Oracle Corporation and Sun Microsystems Inc. are jointly offering a migration solution intended to encourage developers to move applications from Windows to Java. The solution will use Sun's Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) platform and Sun Solaris Operating Environment, as well as the Oracle9i Application Server. The companies claim the solution offers a phased migration path without increased cost or loss of productivity.

The solution includes:

The Oracle Migration Kit for ASP provides tools for developers to convert Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP) applications to J2EE technology applications.

The Oracle Migration Workbench controls the process of migrating from SQL Server and Microsoft Access databases to the Oracle9i database.

The Sun Developer Kit for Windows NT is a collection of information, tools, hints and tips, code samples, white papers and links to third-party migration resources. The Kit is available for free online through the Sun Solaris Developer Connection Program.
