Tivoli Rolls Out New Security Products
Last week, IBM Corp.subsidiary Tivoli Systems Inc. rolled outthree new security products to help enterprises create an umbrella securitysystem. Tivoli Identity Director, Tivoli Policy Director, and Tivoli IntrusionManager each address specific security issues within complex computingenvironments.
One new product, Tivoli Identity Director, managesusers granted access to systems in the enterprise. It creates an LDAP databaseof users and their access rights, to allow a single sign-on for a variety ofsystems, including Unix, mainframe, and Windows machines. Tivoli says it canease management by centralizing user data, allowing new users to come on-linequickly, and departing employees’ accounts can be deleted quickly andcomprehensively.
Identity Director can also manage permissions forapplications, when tied with Tivoli Policy Manager, which received an update.Access to applications can be tied to the LDAP database, creating a single signon for both machines and applications.
Tivoli Policy Manager is an access management frameworkfor e-business applications. IBM said it has support out-of-the-box for popularproducts like WebSphere, SAP, and BroadVision. It can also integrate withportal applications for Web-based authentication.
Tivoli also introduced Tivoli Intrusion Manager,intrusion detection software for mid-sized businesses. It monitors threats andattacks from malicious users, while filtering out false alarms. It can alsoscan the network for security vulnerabilities before they are compromised.Tivoli offers Tivoli Risk Manager for enterprise environments. –Chris McConnell
