AdventNet Enhances Free OpManager Edition to Support 20 Nodes

Pleasanton, Calif., Oct. 5, 2005 -- AdventNet today announced an upgrade to the free edition of its network monitoring software, OpManager. The free edition now manages up to 20 devices, including: routers, switches, servers, applications, printers, UPS devices, and Exchange servers. This is a substantial increase from the previous limit of 10 devices. The free edition, which has all the functionality of the professional edition, can be downloaded directly from http://www.opmanager.com.

OpManager auto-discovers the entire network including applications and services running on servers, groups them into intuitive maps, and continuously monitors them for availability and health. It instantly alerts operators through E-mail and SMS, when network failure occurs. It provides more than 160 out-of-the-box graphs for various elements, such as: Cisco devices, MS-Exchange, Lotus Notes, Oracle, MSSQL, Dell, and Compaq servers.

Recently, AdventNet incorporated OpManager with its other enterprise-centric products -- ServiceDesk Plus and NetFlow Analyzer -- for an integrated solution that can work across IT operations and IT services for small and medium businesses (SMB). ServiceDesk Plus is a help desk/asset management software and NetFlow Analyzer is an in-depth bandwidth monitoring software working on Cisco’s NetFlow technology.

“With businesses getting increasingly dependent on IT, the basic network-management needs of small enterprises are very similar to their larger counterparts. Most small businesses should find the new free edition attractive for their current network monitoring needs,” said Girish Mathrubootham, product manager at AdventNet, Inc. “As the need for technology increases over time, they have an option of upgrading to the Professional edition without losing any data,” he added.
