MySQL To Optimize Enterprise Server for SAP NetWeaver

Company also announced that SAP will take over the development and support for the MaxDB database

MySQL AB announced todaythat it is planning some changes to its MySQL Enterprise Server that will result in better performance with SAP's NetWeaver, an integrated platform for monitoring SAP business process solutions and developing new applications.

"This new phase of MySQL's relationship with SAP will make it easier for our enterprise users to adopt and optimize the SAP NetWeaver business platform," said Mark Burton, MySQL's executive VP of Sales, Channels and Alliances, in a statement. "SAP and MySQL share a desire to deliver scalable and flexible software solutions that help empower enterprise IT organizations to quickly respond to their changing business dynamics."

In addition, MySQL and SAP jointly announced that all support, development and sales issues regarding the MaxDB database -- which were previously under MySQL -- will now return to SAP. According to a MySQL press release, this was done "in order to unify the product's development, distribution and support under one organization."

The MaxDB database runs SAP's Business All-in-One, Business Suite, and Business ByDesign offerings. For more information about the database, visit http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/maxdb
