SanDisk Announces RSA Support for Flash Drives
Cruzer Enterprise USB flash drives now support RSA SecurID software tokens
SanDisk announced this week that its Cruzer Enterprise USB flash drives now support RSA SecurID software tokens. SanDisk is calling this announcement a "two-for-one solution" that gets rid of the need to carry both a hardware authenticator and a flash drive.
"This is an ideal solution for employees who need to travel light and yet be fully connected, as well as for IT departments concerned with data security and regulatory compliance challenges," said Roy Ramati, SanDisk's vice president and general manager of the company's Enterprise Division, in a press release.
According to the release, RSA SecurID software tokens use a "two-factor authentication" system for user verification. Users are required to have both the one-time drive-generated passcode as well as the drive's password. Likewise, Cruzer Enterprise USB flash drives use 256-bit AES encryption and password protection to ensure that data doesn't get accessed by unauthorized users.
Sam Curry, vice president at RSA's Identity and Access Assurance Group, said in the release, "Two-factor authentication is no longer a one-size-fits-all solution, so we are working with SanDisk to optimize our joint customers' deployments by balancing risk, cost and convenience and offering a broad choice of authentication mechanisms."
