Scalent Systems Adds Red Hat Support to Virtual and Bare-Metal System Management
Scalent V/OE version 2.5 offers management and automation tools for quick and easy physical/virtual transitions and failover, now for hardware running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, either standalone or under Xen
Scalent Systems, a real-time management and system automation provider serving large data centers, announced its support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and Xen. The solution gives administrators virtualization and data center automation tools that move beyond hypervisors and tackle bare metal servers as well as the network and storage connectivity used by the hardware.
According to the company, “Scalent V/OE enables IT managers to rapidly provision entire virtual or bare metal servers and associated storage and network topologies, yielding higher asset utilization and dramatically lower costs.”
Kevin Epstein, Scalent’s vice president of Marketing, told Enterprise Strategies, “The beauty of our software is that you can go back and forth between different physical and virtualized environments, with associated network and storage connectivity, in real-time. No longer must equipment be restricted to one configuration. Scalent V/OE lets you use hardware the way you need it when you need it, to match your workloads, and you can typically re-configure systems in under five minutes.” Data centers can transition between configurations or between bare metal systems to connected servers without physical intervention.
Scalent’s software provides “real-time data center management, automation, and virtualization across physical and virtual servers, networks, and storage,” the company said.
