Epok Edition for Microsoft SharePoint 2.4 Released

Latest version includes Office integration, "org-chart" user interface

Epok Inc. last week released version 2.4 of Epok Edition for Microsoft SharePoint, a tool for securing and regulating MOSS 2007 access control.

According to the company, this latest release protects against SharePoint-related security risks and features several directory-integration capabilities to "improve usability among partners, corporate business units, and others." Epok added that the latest release also includes dynamic integration with Office designed to enhance cross-organizational accessibility and compatibility.

Epok Edition for SharePoint implements user authentication to entities outside organizations, such as off-site business units and project teams. It also distributes permissions guidelines across pre-determined business team leaders, freeing IT from managing identity lifecycles.

The product also lets administrators prompt users to agree to specific policies or state their intent when they access documents or sites on the SharePoint server. An "org-chart-like interface" gives users an overview into group relationships. Users can mouse over user icons to view access details.

"Easy-to-use UI extensions in Relaese 2.4 allow SharePoint users to reach users across multiple directories in multiple organizations, server sites, and operating systems," said Epok president and CEO Fred Giordano in a prepared statement. "Enhanced integration increases productivity and effectiveness by offering MySites and powerful Office Client integration to the extended user base."
