Activecrypt Software has just released DBDefence, software that provides enhanced protection for Microsoft SQL Server users. The software provides transparent database encryption and is even able to hide the database schema from unauthorized users. DBDefence allows users to encrypt their databases so that hackers and competitors will be unable to access any of the information kept inside.
Software designers do not have to change the SQL queries they use in their programs. One of the main advantages is the ability to protect the database schema, which prevents competitors and other third parties from getting the slightest idea of what is going on in our customers' databases.
Another advantage of the software is its support of easy database backup. Whenever the database is backed up, it is automatically secured through encryption. There is no need for the user to buy extra security software for backing up their databases.
Using the FIPS 140-2 validated module, governmental organizations will be able to get reliable protection at a fraction of the cost.
A free version is available online, and licenses for the software are being offered at a starting price of $189 per server. For more information, visit the DBDefence Web site: http://www.dbdefence.com .
