Foxit Corporation has updated it sEmbedded PDF Software Development Kit (SDK) with support for for the Android and Apple iOS platforms. The Foxit Embedded PDF SDK is a PDF software development toolkit that enables mobile platform developers to support applications that leverage PDF technology to display, search, and annotate documents.
Device manufacturers and telecom carriers bundle PDF applications on their handheld devices to increase the value of their products. Mobile application developers using the Foxit Embedded PDF SDK can incorporate powerful, industry-standard PDF technology within their applications and can extend their market reach as new mobile devices are introduced. Technologies that offer a “develop once, port many times” development model allow these developers to extend the reach of their software while meeting the requirements of device manufacturers for feature differentiation.
The Foxit Embedded PDF SDK provides these capabilities in an easy-to-integrate solution, enabling customers to significantly reduce their time to market. The SDK is platform-independent, with support today for Android, iOS, and Windows Mobile for tablets and smartphones; and Embedded Linux and Windows CE for devices such as printers, handsets, and feature phones.
Key features of the Foxit Embedded PDF SDK include:
-
Progressive processing allows developers and hardware manufacturers to use idle system resources to improve the user experience
-
Memory management efficiently uses cache technology for optimized performance, providing fine-grained control to application developers for further optimization
-
PDF reflow provides automatic rearrangement of content so a PDF designed for a full-sized sheet of paper can be easily read on devices with small screens
-
Out-of-memory control allows application developers to ensure that their applications gracefully recover from out-of-memory conditions
-
Full-featured, high-quality rendering provides maximum document fidelity with transparency, smooth shadings, dash patterns, and embedded fonts
-
Annotations enable application developers to provide advanced PDF markup functionality
