CA Technologies has released a new Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) solution capabilities that help meet business demand for collaboration to improve project and product innovation. By integrating the CA PPM solution with Salesforce Chatter, the private enterprise social network, CA Technologies is responding to the radically different way companies are now communicating and collaborating using social technologies.

An organization's business success hinges on its ability to innovate and execute to develop product and services that are better than the competition. Managing the innovation life cycle -- from ideation to execution -- is critical, and as business adopts new ways to collaborate and foster innovation, managing that communication becomes equally important. This CA PPM solution gives IT leaders and business executives the traceability, workflow, reporting, and now collaboration required to help drive business innovation and speed business change.

"As organizations blend Agile and traditional development to meet competitive demands, it's imperative that teams collaborate and share ideas, requirements and status updates in a meaningful forum," said Brian Bell, general manager, Service and Portfolio Management, CA Technologies. "Integrating Chatter with our PPM solution helps manage collaboration across the innovation lifecycle."

The CA PPM solution includes capabilities from CA Clarity PPM (delivered on demand or on premise) and CA Technologies PPM-related cloud applications, CA Idea Vision and the Spring 2011 releases of CA Agile Vision and CA Product Vision.

This announcement introduces the following new features:

-- Integration with Chatter, a widely used business social network that allows teams to work more efficiently and closely. Using Chatter, project teams can collaborate and easily follow requirements and status updates online or via mobile devices such as the iPad, iPhone, or BlackBerry.

-- Deeper integration with leading ERP systems to bring in critical resource information to facilitate portfolio planning and decision-making. This addresses the growing need of many organizations to have a better integration strategy for data from multiple sources, including SAP and Oracle. Pre-built ERP adapters from CA Technologies and Pervasive Software enable organizations to maximize the business intelligence from data investments.
