Oracle Unveils StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library

Oracle today released its StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library, a low-cost, scalable tape library.
An archive and data protection solution designed for midsize and growing businesses, the StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library scales from 30 to 300 slots and up to 900 TB of capacity, giving customers ample room to grow in a single tape library and significantly reducing service, installation, and capital expenditure costs.
The StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library offers substantial space savings and can offer 40 percent higher density than competitive products. It can be deployed and expanded at a lower acquisition cost than comparable midrange solutions.
The StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library is easy to use and offers simple, streamlined management thanks to an elegant, intuitive graphical user interface built on Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Linux. Users can easily view and navigate drive, library, and media information without dealing with cumbersome file structure drill-downs.
The StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library can be installed in as little as 30 minutes and capacity can be added quickly using the library’s USB-based auto-discovery system to find new expansion modules. The solution supports a wide range of open systems environments. Operating systems and platforms include Oracle Solaris and Oracle Linux, Oracle Exadata Database Machine, Oracle Database Appliance, Oracle’s SPARC, and Sun x86 servers, as well as Oracle’s Sun Storage. It provides an integrated data protection and archive solution that includes Oracle 11g Recovery Manager, Oracle Secure Backup, Oracle StorageTek Tape Analytics, Oracle’s StorageTek Automated Cartridge System Library Software (ACSLS), and Oracle’s Sun Storage Archive Manager software.
