Ironside Joins Ariba Supplier Link Program

After recently throwing its hat into the AS/400 market with Version 2.1 of its Ironworks Internet order-entry and order-management application, Ironside Technologies Inc. (Pleasanton, Calif.) now announces membership in the Ariba Technologies Inc. (San Jose, Calif.) Ariba Supplier Link program.

AMR Research (Boston) reports that Ariba will work with Ironside to leverage their respective sell-side and buy-side products to maximize benefits to customers. Essentially, Ironside customers who use the Ironworks product for Web-based sales will also be able to distribute catalog content to users of the Ariba ORMS procurement solution.

AMR Research believes this is “the beginning of a trend for sell-side vendors as they realize that, in addition to publishing to the Web, they must distribute catalog content to third-party aggregators and to procurement applications. For Ironside, this is a pioneering effort that gives its customer base access to buyers representing over $45 billion in annual indirect purchases. Ariba customers receive the benefit of additional sources of goods with minimal administrative burden in assisting those suppliers in the electronic submission and maintenance of content. Expect to see a number of similar announcements from buy-side and sell-side vendors in the coming months.”

Ironworks sits between an existing order management system and a customer's desktop, providing services to the customer while preserving the security established for the host system. Ironworks integrates with an order management system to provide services that can include order entry, product configuration, order status, request for quotation, inventory availability, promotions and e-mail communications.
