Infinium Joins ASP Market
By Jim Martin
Infinium has announced it will be offering application-hosting services to its customers, becoming the latest company looking to capitalize on the growing ASP market.
Infinium’s ASP offerings will enable its customers' quick and easy access to Infinium applications over the Web without the cost of owning and managing the applications and their back-office infrastructure.
“For Infinium, ASP is about relationships-not rentals,” says Bob Pemberton, CEO of Infinium (Hyannis, Mass.). “Our ASP offerings present another opportunity to build a new kind of relationship with our customers that allows us to deliver even more valuable services--not just a new delivery paradigm or ownership model. Our ASP offering is about getting technology out of the way, so our customers can focus only on doing great work.”
According to Infinium, its entry into the ASP market is fueled by the proposition that its customers do not want to be, or need to be system administrators. Infinium’s ASP will host a customer’s full enterprise application suite.
“Infinium is extending its core competencies in enterprise solutions and services with application service provider offerings that are closely allied with our service provider strategies,” says Tom Jarosh, general manager of IBM’s AS/400 Group. “We have a long-standing relationship with Infinium and look forward to working with them in this rapidly emerging marketplace.”
