IBM, Siebel Expand Alliance to Mid-sized Customers

IBM and Siebel Systems have extended their alliance to market, sell and deliver e-business solutions to mid-sized customers around the world.

The companies also will market Siebel e-business applications directly to IBM's 90,000 Business Partners to help standardize partners' internal business processes, eliminate inefficiencies and improve customer satisfaction in the important business area of customer relationship management solutions.

The two companies will assign dedicated sales teams to jointly sell the integrated offerings to both medium-sized customers and IBM Business Partners. IBM and Siebel also will train many of IBM's Business Partners who serve the IT needs of thousands of smaller customers worldwide.

They also will offer customizable solutions for mid-sized companies and IBM Business Partners - whether customers seek to implement their first customer-facing e-business solution or enhance existing ones.

Available will be Siebel solutions, database offerings, hardware, services and financing.

The IBM-Siebel alliance was announced last fall to jointly develop, market and sell integrated e-business solutions. The alliance included Siebel's choice of IBM's DB2 Universal Database as the company's primary development platform. In June, Siebel also said it would port Siebel's e-business applications to the IBM AS/400e server platform. Siebel also supports the IBM RS/6000 and Netfinity servers, IBM's DB2 Universal Database, its CallPath middleware and the IBM's WebSphere software platform.
