SunGard Shines on AS/400
IT services provider SunGard Computer Services Inc. (Wayne, Pa.) has announced added support of AS/400 systems to its family of outsourcing services, according to published reports. The move is expected to allow SunGard to focus its expertise managing outsourced production systems on the AS/400 marketplace.
According to Steve Dock, senior VP of SunGard, "The same reliable and proven methodologies which have served our clients has now been extended to AS/400 environments. We have been fine tuning our operational and technical expertise supporting AS/400 systems for nearly a year, and are ready to make outsourcing for these systems generally available."
As part of the AS/400 expansion, SunGard has also renamed its 'Open Systems' outsourcing service to 'Midrange,' which now more accurately describes the scope and breadth of its service offering.
SunGard has been a provider of IS management for the past 20 years, accommodating -- in addition to AS/400 -- S/390, RS/6000, HP 9000, Sun systems and a variety of Windows NT platforms.
