NLynx Announces Upgrade of ES/TCP

With an eye on the steadily increasing demand for TCP/IP network connectivity, NLynx Systems Inc. (Austin, Texas) announces Version 5.0 of its ES/TCP emulation software. Version 5.0 has been designed specifically to take advantage of the TN5250E extension, providing AS/400 connectivity and 5250 terminal and printer emulation for the range of Windows operating system versions, over Token-Ring or Ethernet.

"ES/TCP 5.0 provides a built-in migration path as it supports any Windows environment, including 3.1, 95, 98 or NT, in a single solution," says Scott Haram, EC/TCP 5.0 product line manager.

NLynx is promoting its new product version on the strength of the following features: a small, 5MB footprint; persistent LU naming; enhanced printing setup; improved security through 128-bit encryption; and file transfer options.

These file transfer options include: ES/IFS "drag-and-drop" file transfer between AS/400 and PC; read-only ODBC driver from HiT Software Inc. (San Jose, Calif.); and built-in support for ETU, an industry standard allowing direct file transfer between a PC and AS/400.

ES/TCP 5.0 is scheduled for availability in late February, with a suggested U.S. list price of $149 per user. As a special introductory offer, NLynx reports that companies purchasing 25 or more ES/TCP 5.0 user licenses are eligible to receive ETU 400 File Transfer, a $995 value. This offer is valid through March 31, 1999.
