Lawson To Strengthen Web HR Through Acquisition

Lawson Software (Minneapolis) announces it has signed a letter of intent to purchase the assets and acquire the resources of ijob Inc., the -based marketer of a strategic, Web-based human resources solution that automates and re-engineers the job candidate registration, recruitment and selection processes.

Lawson reportedly plans to integrate the ijob solution into its Lawson Insight business management system. "The acquisition of ijob gives Lawson the opportunity to extend its strong penetration and leadership in the human resources software market, while adding value not available from competitors," says William Lawson, chairman and CEO of Lawson.

"It also gives us a unique chance to introduce our HR solutions to organizations where there previously may have been no interest in upgrading their systems," Lawson says. "And because ijob runs on an outsourced database over the Web, it meshes perfectly with our strategy to capitalize on the emerging outsourcing trend."

As a result of the proposed acquisition, Lawson plans to form a business unit dedicated to aligning corporate sales, service, support, channels, marketing and development resources to support the ijob product and integrate it with the Lawson Insight Human Resources process suite.
