OmniEnterprise 3.2 Adds DB2 Sharing Support

By Jim Martin

Lakeview Technology (Oak Brook, Ill.) has announced OmniEnterprise 3.2, a data replication solution for sharing data among AS/400, mainframe and UNIX systems. OmniEnterprise 3.2 adds support for DB2 on the AS/400, enabling data to shared bi-directionally among leading relational databases like Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.

“Increasingly, companies need to make consistent data available to multiple applications across heterogeneous environments, especially in areas such as data warehousing, e-business, and ERP applications,” says Bill Merchantz, president and CEO of Lakeview. “With the addition of DB2/400, OmniEnterprise now offers a solution for the more than 500,000 AS/400 sites that require data consistency among their enterprise systems.”

The newest release features data movement support for Oracle 8i, which includes the capability to replicate long datatypes. Lakeview is also offering new pricing and packaging options to make it easier for companies to deploy OmniEnterprise.

The OmniEnterprise suite includes: OmniReplicator change replication, OmniCopy snapshot copy, OmniLoader extract/load, and OmniDirector, the graphical management console that allows users to monitor and deploy data movement and information flow across the enterprise.

Look for version 3.2 to be available in the fourth quarter of 1999.
