Hummingbird Moves to GUI

Changing the face of its host access products, Hummingbird Communications Ltd. (Toronto) has signed a licensing agreement with ResQNet.com. Through the agreement, ResQNet’s drag-and-drop host rejuvenation technology will be incorporated into Hummingbird’s line of host access products, including HostExplorer and HostExplorer Web.
By incorporating ResQNet’s technology, the HostExplorer family will deliver a comprehensive e-business solution for rejuvenating AS/400 and mainframe green screens. This will give users a more familiar GUI look and feel, while also giving them quick and cost-effective access to business-critical information.
“Hummingbird evaluated all of the alternatives for adding a more helpful interface to our connectivity solution and it was clear that ResQNet’s patented drag-and-drop technology was the easiest and most sophisticated solution on the market today,” says Gary Treyman, senior director product marketing for connectivity at Hummingbird. “The combined solution of the HostExplorer product family and the ResQNet technology provides a customizable solution with a straightforward GUI. This makes host applications easier to use and facilitates integration into the e-business market.”
The ResQNet technology provides “on-the-fly” graphical presentation of legacy host applications through intranets, extranets and the Internet. It extends the boundaries of host applications, delivering data for further reformatting and integration with other sources and returning or displaying the results.
