Retailers Bring Gift Registry Online with AS/400

A new offering from Cornerstone Retail Solutions (Austin, Texas) and IBM Net.Commerce will give retailers running their business operations on AS/400 the opportunity to increase their presence in the rapidly growing gift registry service market.
ExtendYourStore (EYS) gift registry for AS/400 is an end-to-end gift registry solution that allows customers to access registry services from the retailer’s store, on the Web, or through a kiosk or handheld device. Cornerstone hopes the decision to partner their product with AS/400’s Net.Commerce will provide their customers with an end-to-end solution and allow them to benefit from AS/400’s integrated architecture and firewall technology.
"The combination of the AS/400 with our Gift Registry solution provides the security and reliability necessary for retailers to effectively leverage the power and synergy of the Internet and self-service touch screen kiosks," said Will King, senior VP of Cornerstone Retail Solutions.
According to Cornerstone, Forrester Research recently predicted that the online gift market will reach revenues of $17 billion by 2004. EYS allows retailers to deliver consistent offerings and customer service through a variety of channels. EYS Gift Registry Web and kiosk versions both use the same software infrastructure, which reduces implementation costs and rollout time.
