Renex, Patrick Townsend & Associates Combine on Secure AS/400 FTP

Renex Corp. (Manassas, Va.) and Patrick Townsend & Associates Inc. (Olympia, Wash.), a company that specializes in AS/400 and Windows NT communications products, have announced an agreement whereby Townsend has formally signed on as a channel partner to distribute secure BlueZone FTP, Renex Security Server and other Renex software products.

“This new relationship helps us meet an important security requirement for our customers,” says Patrick Townsend. “Our current Alliance FTP Manager includes a full security application for the AS/400, but we needed to address secure connections over the Internet, intranets and Value Added Networks.” The Renex Security Server provides an SSL server for encrypted FTP connections.

Townsend added that, unlike PC FTP applications, Renex’s BlueZone FTP offers a seamless AS/400 connection, providing an SSL-enabled Windows client. And, he continued, it can list files in the QSYS and IFS file systems and handle saved files.

Renex Corp. specializes in FTP, 3270 and 5250 software and hardware products. Townsend will distribute Renex products and provide support for setting up secure connections. Customers installing Renex security products do not need to install Townsend’s FTP Manager product, but the two will work together for complete FTP automation.
