Jacada for Palm Puts Business Information in Users’ Hands

Jacada Ltd. (Atlanta) has released the first in a suite of applications that it claims will allow easy integration between wireless devices and legacy applications. The new product, Jacada for Palm, enables mobile users to access corporate data stored on a mainframe or AS/400 from remote locations.
Jacada for Palm meets integration requirements for Palm devices such as the Palm VII. Gideon Hollander, CEO of Jacada, says the popularity of Palm in the area of wireless devices influenced the company’s choice to make Jacada software available for Palm users.
“Based on discussions with our Fortune 1,000 customers and partners, the Palm wireless device appears to be the wireless device of choice given the current state-of-the-art of the mobile interface,” said Gideon Hollander, CEO of Jacada. “What we are hearing is that in many cases, the Palm is a more appropriate device than a laptop to access business data and better serve the customer. The ability to extend legacy business applications to the Palm device is helping customers realize new business opportunities, new cost saving and significant competitive advantage.”
The software gives mobile users controlled, secure access to corporate mainframe or AS/400 applications and data. The accompanying Software Development Kit (SDK) automatically produces a Palm-specific interface that is dynamically linked to the existing business application.
Pricing for Jacada for Palm SDK starts at $5,000; licensing is based on the number of users.
