HP Enhances Midrange Storage for HP-UX, MPE & NT

HP has announced it is adding a new disk system, increasing disk capacity, and enhancing mid-range array support on Windows NT for the HP SureStore E product family. The moves are designed to give midrange users additional flexibility for storage.

The new high-performance disk system—the HP SureStore E Disk System HVD10—replaces the High Availability Storage System (HASS), HP's current entry-level disk-system. The HVD10, for HP-UX and MPE users, provides higher capacity and performance disks for fast-wide HVD SCSI environments with 5X greater capacity per enclosure and 10X greater capacity per two-meter rack than the HASS. It also offers users the chance to upgrade easily to the SC10 (Ultra SCSI) and then to the FC60.

HP has also increased the capacity of the FC60, offering new 73-GB drives, with up to 6.6 TB of raw capacity per 2-meter rack.

For Windows users, HP has enhanced NT/Windows 2000 support for the mid-range HP SureStore E Disk Array FC60. The company has expanded its NT Storage Consolidation solution to include the FC60, which is now Microsoft Cluster Server Certified (Microsoft HCL and MSCS Cluster). For FC60 users in mixed NT environments (Compaq, Dell and HP NetServers), HP is also offering services such as LUN Configuration, Data Migration and Performance Optimization.
