Attachmate e-Vantage Provides Host Data Access

Attachmate's e-Vantage Enterprise Access Objects, software for integrating host application data with front-office data, is now in general release, the Bellevue, Wash.-based company announced this week.
The product is designed to help companies put legacy data to use for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) systems, by linking them with homegrown or packaged front-end applications.
"Many large companies have a wealth of back-office data they're not currently leveraging to the fullest extent," says Lisa Dembeck, VP of product development for Attachmate. "Our object technology gives companies an immediate advantage of easily creating new applications, even introducing new business rules, that optimize large-system applications without touching any of the original legacy code."
Client machines using e-Vantage Enterprise Access Objects can access information stored on a mainframe, midrange or AS/400 host transparently and in real time, according to Attachmate. The product establishes a connection with the host through a set of client-based COM objects and ActiveX controls. It also uses SSL security.
E-Vantage Enterprise Access Objects is priced at $350 per desktop.
