Acta eCommerce Platform to Support IBM Mainframes

Acta Technology Inc. (Mountain View, Calif.) has announced its eCommerce Data Platform will now support MVS and OS/390 mainframe systems, platforms that account for about 70 percent of stored data.

The software, which integrates legacy and back-office data with e-commerce and analytic applications, also supports AS/400, AIX, Sequent, Sun Solaris, HP-UX, SGI and Windows 2000/NT.

“Much mainframe legacy data in enterprises is historical in nature,” says Carol Mills Baldwin president and CEO of Acta. “Acta’s data platform will enable internal decision makers to use this data, and data from e-commerce applications, in analytical applications to gain a more comprehensive view of the critical elements of their business.”

Acta eCommerce Data Platform caches data and business logic in packaged data applications called eCaches, which provide real-time access to the heavy data required for B2B eCommerce. Heavy data enables the dialog between trading partners to make informed decisions on each transaction. As part of a partnership agreement with Striva Technology, the product utilizes Striva’s DETAIL data extraction and translation tool.
