IBM Brings E-Marketplace to AS/400 Community

IBM has teamed up with eLance.com (Sunnyvale, Calif.) to establish a new e-marketplace designed specifically for AS/400 customers and suppliers. This electronic forum will serve as a trading area where businesses can post and bid on a wide range of AS/400-specific consulting services and applications.

In addition to the e-marketplace, IBM also introduced the AS/400 Services Network, a directory of IBM Business Partners for the AS/400 (and non-business partner companies) who support the more than 200,000 AS/400 customers worldwide. There are over 200 AS/400 suppliers listed on AS/400 Services Network, which will also serve as a portal to the AS/400 e-marketplace.

“Customers want a place where they can go to meet all their AS/400 service needs without having to search throughout the Web,” said Bridget Spellman, Global AS/400 Brand Enablement Executive, IBM. “The AS/400 Services Network can now be their single source for suppliers of services and applications they need to run their business on the AS/400. And by creating an e-marketplace with eLance.com, we’re making it easy for our customers and business partners to conduct transactions electronically in only a few hours and at competitive rates.”

The AS/400 Services Network includes suppliers for areas such as: ASP, Lotus Domino, e-business, ERP, CRM, supply chain management, and many others.

Businesses can access the AS/400 e-marketplace directly at www.as400.ibm.com/service/elance (new window) and the AS/400 Services Network, at (www.ibm.com/as400/services (new window)).
