VOS Initiative Announces Availability of E-Business Solution
VERITAS Software Corporation, Oracle Corporation and Sun Microsystems Inc. have announced the availability of the first two Reference Configurations and associated Design Guides from the VERITAS, Oracle and Sun (VOS) Initiative.
These new solutions include a pre-tested system of software, hardware and a set of guidelines created to help businesses build and deploy more robust e-business database infrastructures. The Sun Reference Configuration H1 and Sun Reference Configuration C1 are fully-configured, tested and integrated platforms, which include industry-standard hardware and software from VERITAS Software, Oracle and Sun. These solutions are tested for interoperability and optimized to assure high quality and improved availability. The associated VOS Initiative Reference Configuration Design Guides contain a complete description of the Sun Reference Configurations H1 and C1, including the software packages, hardware configurations and VOS Initiative validated patches.
The Sun Reference Configuration H1 is an integrated platform consisting of VERITAS Database Edition 2.1.1, Oracle8i and Sun Solaris 8 Operating Environment and is pre-installed and factory-integrated on Sun's Enterprise 6500 server with Sun StorEdge A5200 Enterprise disk arrays.
The Sun Reference Configuration C1 is an integrated platform of VERITAS Database Edition 2.1.1, Oracle8i and Sun Solaris 8 Operating Environment and is pre-installed and factory-integrated on a Sun Enterprise 420R server and Sun StorEdge T3 Enterprise disk arrays.
A complete portfolio of platforms and Design Guides for Reference Configurations from the VOS Initiative are being created to provide a wide range of scalable solutions to address customer needs ranging from small businesses to large enterprise environments.
