Zephyr Introduces 2004 Client Integration Toolkits
March 31, 2004 -- HOUSTON, TX - Zephyr is pleased to announce the availability of the 2004 release of its PASSPORT HLLAPI and Object Toolkits, time-saving development tools designed to assist application programmers in the development of host/client applications in Visual Basic (VB) or C++.
The Toolkits are available free of charge to ISV's and customers who purchase 500+ licensed units of PASSPORT PC TO HOST or PASSPORT WEB TO HOST and Zephyr's annual subscription license.
PASSPORT HLLAPI Toolkit
HLLAPI (High Level Language Application Programming Interface) is the industry standard method for a Windows PC application to interface with an IBM mainframe using a TN3270, TN5250 or VT Windows terminal emulation program. Typical HLLAPI applications can present users with a friendlier interface to host applications and can be used to automate routine functions such as file transfer.
When it comes to integration, PASSPORT can be used to integrate TN3270, TN5250, VT220 and SCO/ANSI host applications with other client, server or web applications using HLLAPI. Most PASSPORT customers use HLLAPI to cut and paste data to and from the host session, and have the option of using the PASSPORT HLLAPI Toolkit to do the job. The toolkit contains sample source code that can be used to quickly develop code that will improve end-user productivity.
The following three functions are included as extensions to Zephyr's HLLAPI implementation. These functions provide compatibility with WallData's "RUMBA® Tools for PowerBuilder®":
Run Profile: This function launches the specified PASSPORT PC TO HOST session profile from your WinHLLAPI application.
Run Connect: This function launches the specified PASSPORT PC TO HOST session profile and connects to the specified presentation space from your WinHLLAPI application.
Close Disconnect: This function disconnects the specified host session and closes the application from your WinHLLAPI session.

PASSPORT Object Toolkit
The PASSPORT Object Interface exposes the following objects: Manager, Sessions, Session, Screen, Area and OIA. Any Microsoft Windows programming or scripting language that supports the Microsoft object interface can use this API. These languages include Visual C++, Visual Basic, VBScript, JavaScript as well as others.
When it comes to integration, PASSPORT can be used to integrate TN3270, TN5250, VT220 and SCO/ANSI host applications with other client, server or web applications using an object oriented API based on Attachmate EXTRA! Objects. Most PASSPORT customers use the API to cut and paste data to and from the host session, and have the option of using the PASSPORT Object Toolkit, to do the job. The toolkit contains sample source code that can be used to quickly develop code that will improve end-user productivity.
