Kaspersky Lab Releases Anti-Virus 5.5 for Novell NetWare.

October 19, 2004 -- Kaspersky Lab's Anti-Virus 5.5 for Novell NetWare protects file servers running Novell NetWare against malicious code, and is distinguished in how it manages server protection based on the creation of tasks for all anti-virus functions. When creating tasks, an administrator can indicate which locations and object types should be checked, set the action to take with suspicious and infected objects, create notification distribution lists, and specify what information should be logged. Assigning tasks in this way significantly simplifies system configuration and administration and optimizes antivirus protection.

The product's anti-virus engine checks files for viruses in a protected address space. As a result, if for any reason the antivirus function is disrupted, the server will continue to operate. This enhances both solution and server performance.

When Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Novell NetWare is run on multi-processor systems, it is possible to launch several anti-virus engines at the same time. This increases processing speed while maintaining server load balance.

Version 5.5 differs from previous versions of the product in its upgraded administration tools. The new version offers an extended range of management tools. In addition to ConsoleOne, the Novell NetWare standard management interface, administrative functions can now also be carried out using a new web-interface. Management via the web-interface is almost identical to management via ConsoleOne; there is no need to install a Novell Client service utility on workstations, thus simplifying administration of the solution.
