Lumigent Technologies Brings Data Auditing Solution for Oracle to HP-UX and AIX

ACTON, Mass. – December 6, 2004 – Lumigent Technologies, Inc. has introduced Entegra™ for Oracle® databases on the HP-UX and AIX operating systems. This enterprise-level software is now available to help organizations using the Hewlett-Packard and IBM variants of the UNIX operating system maintain the integrity of their data, reduce the risk of inappropriate changes and access to data, and meet compliance regulations.

“By offering Entegra on different operating systems, Lumigent can meet the needs of thousands of corporations that must institute data auditing solutions,” explained Clifford Pollan, CEO of Lumigent. “We are responding to customer demand by providing Entegra on the most prominent databases (SQL Server, Oracle, and Sybase) in use at major enterprises and multiple operating systems (Windows, Solaris, HP-UX, and AIX.)

Data auditing is an essential practice for enterprises to account for the integrity, security, and privacy of corporate data. Often, data is compromised when authorized users make alterations either unknowingly or maliciously. These actions can negatively affect a company’s brand, reputation, and ability to acquire and retain customers. With insight into the who, what, when, and how of data access and changes, enterprises can address risk management and regulatory compliance requirements.

“Auditing data to meet compliance requirements is an essential part of an enterprise’s need to protect company information. Corporate data is a valuable company asset; enterprises must be certain that the business critical information contained in their databases is secure and not compromised by unauthorized access,” declared Kevin Strange, research vice president at Gartner. “Database auditing can help a company meet compliance requirements, assure the integrity of sensitive information assets, and discourage unauthorized, and potentially damaging, use of data.”

The Sarbanes-Oxley Act, where financial misrepresentation by public companies is punishable by fines, imprisonment, or both, has been the major catalyst for data auditing this year; public companies must provide reports on data access at the end of 2004. Other regulations that require database auditing include HIPAA, The USA PATRIOT Act, GLBA, and many more.

With Entegra, organizations that use Oracle databases on HP-UX and AIX (and previously announced on Solaris) can:

  • Assure end-to-end integrity of financial transactions for regulatory compliance through transparency of who did what to the data when

  • Detect and analyze breaches in user and application behavior (intentional or accidental)

  • Monitor critical data for unauthorized changes and approved changes by privileged users that occur outside of application controls and security measures

  • Validate policies and controls for protecting sensitive data and continually monitor the effectiveness of these polices and controls.

  • Rapidly respond to violations and vulnerabilities

Traditional data auditing means (application modification, database triggers, and packet sniffing) are costly, incomplete, and introduce risk. These approaches can degrade database performance, ignore database vulnerabilities, and are difficult to manage and maintain. Entegra eases deployment and administration of an enterprise’s databases, and provides complete, precise information on database access and changes.

Pricing and Availability

Entegra for Oracle on HP-UX and AIX is available immediately from Lumigent Technologies with support for Oracle8i™ and Oracle9i™ platforms on UNIX® and Microsoft® Windows® operating systems. A previously announced release supports Solaris™.
