Featuring scalability enhancements and extended integration to leading systems management solutions such as IBM Tivoli and HP OpenView, the latest version of nLayers' agentless appliance is the only automated discovery solution that can create a "living," three-dimensional model of the largest, most complex n-tiered enterprise environments at a rate of more than 400 servers per minute.
nLayers InSight immediately gives IT managers a "big picture" view of the entire application infrastructure, and version 3.0 maintains this information in a federated configuration management database (CMDB) to help customers begin unifying management disciplines and operating more agile, service-oriented IT organizations.
Unlike other discovery technologies, nLayers InSight continuously tracks the entire application infrastructure to illustrate demand, usage and service levels over time so that customers can plan, manage and optimize IT resources. Enhancements to nLayers InSight 3.0 include:
A federated CMDB. Most IT organizations already maintain large quantities of configuration data, including hardware, network topology, and storage configuration information. To help customers leverage the systems tools and information they already have, nLayers InSight 3.0 feeds its application dependency, relationship, demand and usage data into an open, federated configuration repository.
nLayers InSight can access or integrate with a customer's existing system information repositories to support a complete, unified view of cross-discipline configuration information. Data in the nLayers CMDB is available for use with nLayers InSight 3.0, but can also be exported via XML to other management solutions such as service-level management technologies, capacity planning, and IT Governance solutions.
Systems management solution integration. nLayers InSight 3.0 includes plug-ins to many leading systems management solutions, such as IBM Tivoli and HP OpenView. Customers can merge nLayers' unique application dependency, demand and usage information with the hardware, network, and other systems data gathered by existing management tools for complete visibility into the IT environment. nLayers also offers an nLayers InSight Software Development Kit (SDK) for easy integration with a wide array of systems management solutions.

The scalability enhancements to version 3.0 make it possible for nLayers InSight to identify and track all elements of the largest application infrastructures and store this information in its federated CMDB.
