BMC Software Announces Day-One Support for IBM System z9 Integrated Information Processor

HOUSTON - (Mar. 7, 2006) - BMC Software, Inc., a leader in enterprise management, today confirmed day-one support for its BMC(r) mainframe solutions for IBM's System z9 Integrated Information Processor (zIIP), a specialty engine designed to help improve resource optimization and lower the cost of portions of eligible workloads. BMC solutions will provide capabilities that allow customers to more effectively utilize zIIP, further extending the value the mainframe brings to enterprise applications and the business services they run.
With support upon availability of the IBM zIIP, BMC customers should be able to immediately leverage the benefits of these processor engines.
BMC's cutting-edge solutions are designed to take advantage of IBM's new processor and ensure customers uninterrupted business services. Day-one support of the zIIP will provide seamless operations that ensure BMC’s customers continue to operate efficiently through strong performance of the mainframe.
In addition to providing day-one support, BMC is planning to provide follow-on monitoring support of the zIIP so that customers continue to protect their technology investments.
