AccuRev 4.5 Extends Capabilities for Parallel and Component-based Development Projects

Also adds significant functionality to improve the security and compliance of applications development

Lexington, MA, September 19, 2006 -- AccuRev Inc. announced today AccuRev® 4.5, its software configuration (SCM) solution. This release adds significant functionality that improves both the security and compliance of applications development, and the productivity of geographically distributed, outsourced, or parallel development teams. AccuRev 4.5 is designed to be at the core of a multivendor application lifecycle management (ALM) process through its enhanced AccuBridge SDK, combining process- and issue-based SCM with leading IDEs and third-party lifecycle tools.

Bill Houglum, director of engineering at Birdstep Technology, added, “Multivendor ALM significantly increases our ability to stay in control of our lifecycle environment and utilize the strongest tools in their respective category. With AccuRev at the center of our tool strategy, we have the optimal ALM platform for compliance and artifact traceability at the lowest total cost of ownership.”

AccuRev 4.5 provides maximum customer control, without vendor lock-in and now provides additional value to organizations conducting:

  • Cross-platform, and component-based parallel development: New cross-stream links, cross-platform symbolic links, and workflow additions to change packages allow development teams to organize monolithic software architectures into independently versioned components and conduct component-based development in parallel with ground-breaking ease of administration.

  • Geographically distributed and outsourced development: AccuReplica™, for geographically distributed replication, has been enhanced to be over two times faster on average; per-file exclusive locking; new access control lists (ACL) inheritance; a new encrypted login and session model; and an enhanced administrative user interface provide a more secure platform for geographically distributed teams.

  • Multivendor Application Lifecycle Management: New performance and usability enhancements within AccuBridge for Eclipse™, AccuBridge for Visual Studio™, including 2005, and AccuBridge for Intelli-J IDEA™ plug-ins allow developers to more fully live within their IDE of choice. New centralized LDAP provisioning through AccuBridge for LDAP Provisioning™ is an add-on that allows for fine-grained access control of users and groups for team members in remote locations accessing a centralized directory service.
