RenewData Launches Data Migration Service

Migration service can convert e-mail messages from legacy systems to popular formats to help an enterprise meet legal discovery requirements

RenewData today launched Data Migration Services for migrating and consolidating historical e-mail into new systems, creating a centralized repository that supports legal discovery. Migrations use the company’s ActiveVault Conversion Engine under full chain of custody and a repeatable process that ensures data integrity. Enterprises are further protected because RenewData will supply data to satisfy legal discoveries from the same data set being migrated without disrupting the process, and can supply expert testimony if required.

Migrations can originate from sources including CA Message Manager (formerly Assentor), Lotus Notes, Novell GroupWise, Microsoft Exchange, backup tapes, and platters. The process can handle large amounts of data into many top e-mail archiving systems, including Symantec’s Enterprise Vault and EMC’s EmailXtender.

RenewData’s proprietary technology can bypass the legacy application and directly access content-addressable storage. RenewData then uses its conversion engine to remove duplicates e-mail messages. The company RenewData can migrate other data types, including user files, instant messages, and chat sessions.

After conversion, enterprise users can access all their email directly from the email archiving system, thus eliminating the cost and risk of maintaining old messages on backup tapes or in previous systems. Companies can determine their dormant liability from backup tapes by using RenewData’s risk calculator, which can be found at http://www.renewdata.com/risk-calc.php
