NetPro Updates Three Products for Active Directory

Solutions for AD restore, role-based access management, and active directory reporting

NetPro Computing, Inc. has updated three Microsoft Active Directory solutions that help manage, secure, and handle compliance tasks.

The three updates include:

  • NetPro’s role-based access management solution, AccessManager 2.0, improves security and streamlines entitlement auditing. It enables role-based management support and workflow processing of approved changes and roles.

  • RestoreADmin 3.5 is an online Active Directory backup and restore program. The update supports Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (ADLDS, formerly Active Directory Application Mode or ADAM) and Application Data Partitions.

  • ReportADmin for ACS includes a new module that extends Microsoft’s Audit Collection Services (ACS) with consolidated views, plus simpler reporting and analytics.

“Organizations have no choice but to keep their environments secure from breaches and compliant with government regulations, but with each passing year, that grows more and more difficult to do,” said Rod Simmons, director of product management at NetPro, in a company statement “NetPro is committed to enhancing our solutions to meet the challenges, from streamlining access management with a simple role-based approach, to providing comprehensive AD back up and restore, as well as consolidated, integrated reporting for compliance.”

Access Manager 2.0 features role-based management support and workflow processing of approved changes and roles. It streamlines and centralizes deployment to remediation and reporting on access for ensuring consistent and reliable resource-based access control across the enterprise. It also tightens security and streamlines entitlement auditing processes by detailing who has access to what resources; users can track and report on access rights and provisioning activities.

RestoreADmin 3.5 provides support for (ADLDS, formerly Active Directory Application Mode or ADAM) and Application Data Partitions. The program restores and schedules backups so users can restore or rollback objects without taking domain controllers offline. Manual scripting is not needed; automated backups of Active Directory domains or entire forests can be performed. Network usage is optimized because users can schedule backups at off-hours and perform delta backups of selected object classes at user-selected intervals.

ReportADmin for ACS supplements Microsoft Audit Collection Services (ACS) (which ships with System Center Operations Manager 2007) with data analytics and reporting capabilities; it also enables users to set authorization and delivery settings based on individual preferences using Web-based subscription services.
